Annual and Multi‑Year Cycles

Gatton Gift programs operate on a combination of annual and multi‑year cycles, depending on the nature of the activity. Scholarships, undergraduate research awards and reporting requirements follow annual timelines, while faculty appointments, Grand Challenges and capital initiatives may span multiple years.

Timelines are established in advance and communicated clearly to support planning, accountability and effective use of funds.

Review and Approval Process

Funding decisions follow a structured process:

  1. Submission of a proposal or nomination through a standardized intake process
  2. Review and recommendation by the appropriate pillar‑level subcommittee
  3. Review by the Gatton Gift Leadership Council
  4. Final approval by the Dean

This process ensures alignment with donor intent, College priorities and available resources.

Expectations for Recipients

Recipients of The Bill Gatton Foundation Gift support are expected to:

  • Use funds in accordance with the approved scope and budget
  • Comply with all University policies and procedures
  • Submit required progress and annual reports
  • Participate in assessment and knowledge‑sharing activities, such as The Bill Gatton Foundation Gift Symposium

The Bill Gatton Foundation Gift is intended to build internal capacity and generate outcomes that extend beyond the initial period of support.
